Bute Race 2023

The Bute Race (a circumnavigation of the Isle of Bute) is for earlybirds, and precedes the Opening Muster. Its the first event of the year.

RULES

General Regulation 3.6 will NOT apply. The race is open to members of all RYA/World Sailing affiliated yacht clubs. Yachts must have a valid IRC or CYCA handicap certificate de[pendent on the class that they enter.

Please note the amended General Regulations 7 and 10 re monitoring the Race at all times on Channel 77.

*Yachts wishing to enter the 2-Handed Series are asked to make this clear on entry, as well as in which class they wish to sail.

COURSE

All classes will sail Course 1 unless notified on Ch 77 when all classes will sail Course 2 or another course as specified by the RO on the day.

We are not seeking any firm commitment just your intention to race

The Start Signals are anticipated as follows:

Time Warning Preparatory Start

09:20 Class 3

09:25 Class 2 Class 3

09:30 Class 1 Class 2 Class 3

09:35 Class 1 Class 2

09:40 Class 1

THE START

The start line will be between the mainmast of the CV moored to the north of the entrance to Inverkip Marina and the southernmost racing mark offshore, the committee vessel to be left to starboard and the mark to be left to Port.

THE FINISH

The finishing line will be between the mainmast of the committee vessel moored to the north of the entrance to Largs Yacht Haven and a racing mark, the mark to be left to Starboard. In the event that there is no committee vessel at the finish, yachts are to record their own times in accordance with General Regulation 10.3

TIME LIMIT

The time limit for all classes will be 18:00

If one yacht in any class has finished by the time limit, racing for all classes will be extended by 1 hour.

Members wishing to meet up after racing should do so in Scotts at 1900 hrs.
