Believing in a brighter future - Winter Meet Two 2024

Published 11:15 on 24 Feb 2024

On Wednesday 21 February, Paul Taylor, gave a powerful presentation on the the work and impact of the Ellen McArthur Cancer Trust. (https://www.ellenmacarthurcancertrust.org/)

Those in the sailing world will be familiar with Ellen's career as a solo long-distance yachtswoman. The Trust that bears her name looks to support young cancer sufferers and give them an opportunity to break out of the environment of treatment through experiencing the different world of sailing.

Paul Taylor is one of the professional skippers who make the work of the Trust possible. Paul and two of the volunteer mates who work with the Trust explained the needs of the young people and what the Trust was able to do to help these young sufferers regain their confidence and self-belief following the difficulties of treatment.

The fleets sail out of Cowes and Largs and, over the summer months of last year, helped over 700 young cancer-sufferers. As well as the constant need for cash to fund the support, the Trust is also on the lookout for volunteers to support the efforts to make a brighter future for these young people. Can you help?
